Samsung Pay in India, How to Install & Use, Supported Banks & Device

From past few months after the currency ban in India, we can see an increasements of various digital payments providers in India. Some of the most used platforms are Paytm, Airtel Money, FreeCharge, etc. Even Indian Government had also launched this type of app called Bharat Interface For Money (BHIM). But this time Samsung is doing something same to make India cashless. They have recently launched Samsung Pay In India. So, in this article, we are going to give every single detail of Samsung Pay India.

Unlike other digital payment provider apps, Samsung is slowly hitting the industry. They also tried to take some new and unique feature in their Samsung Pay App to make digital payments more easy, secure and fast.

What Is Samsung Pay?

Many of you may wonder that what the hell is this Samsung Pay. Let’s see what is this. Samsung Pay is a mobile payment provider app which lets users send or receive money digitally. As of now, it features are mainly made for retail stores payment. This app can be used almost everywhere where a swipe machine is available as a payment method. That means you can use it in any retail store where the swipe machine is used to receive money from customers. It’s a very secure way to send or receive money even publicly.

Can Everybody Use Samsung Pay App?

I am very sorry to say that, as of now Samsung Pay is not available for everyone. Only selected Indian users can use this app now. To make this app work, it needs few hardware requirements which is not available on every Samsung devices. The device must include a fingerprint scanner to make sure that the user is you and Near Field Communication (NFC) or Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) to communicate with the Swipe machines at the time of payment.

As of now, Samsung has decided to release Samsung Pay App only for mid-range and flagship mobiles of itself. Currently, this app is accessible on very few Samsung handsets including Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 EDGE, Samsung Galaxy S6 EDGE Plus, Galaxy A7 2016 and Galaxy A5 (2016). All of these Samsung phones fulfil all the software and hardware requirements of Samsung Pay App. But in coming days, Samsung may do something to make this app usable for all users.

How Does Samsung Pay Works?

When a user uses this app and tries to send money using Swipe machine, it creates a high-frequency network to communicate with the Swipe machine and send all the required details to complete the payment. It uses device’s NFC or MST connectivity to create the wireless connection between your device and the machine. This way it becomes very secure because no one will know your card details like card number, expiry date, CVV number, etc. It hides your card number by generation random card numbers which are unique but dedicated only to your card.

How To Install Samsung Pay App In Your Phone?

At first, make sure that you are using the latest and updated version of Android on your phone. To check that, go to Settings > About Device > Software Info > Android Version. If any update is available, then update it. Now, register for a Samsung account from Settings > Accounts > Add Samsung Account. Here you have to add your account ID. Then install Samsung Pay App on your phone. Just setup the app with your bank account and you are ready to use this service.

How To Use Samsung Pay App To Send Money?

To make a complete payment to any retail store which accepts cards, you have to go through 3 simple and easy steps. Firstly, you have to register your fingerprint with the app. You have to verify your fingerprint every time you send money. Then swipe from down to up on your screen and the app will be launched automatically. Then put your fingerprint, and an SMS will be sent to your number which will be verified automatically. After that, this app will generate a unique 16 digit token number. Instead of adding money to Samsung Pay, you can use your bank credit/debit cards to send money digitally. You just have to scan your card using this app. And it will do the rest. Just you have to keep your phone in front of swipe machine to connect both devices.

Can I Add My Paytm Wallet To Samsung Pay App?

A big YES! You can now add your Paytm wallet with this app to transfer between Paytm and Samsung Pay. To add, you just have to click on “Wallet” then “Add Paytm”. It also allows you to create new Paytm account to link with it. Then you will be able to scan merchant’s QR code or create your specific QR code to accept payment from others.

Samsung Pay App Supported Bank Cards

For now, this is not supporting all the bank cards. But if you are using credit or debit card of any of the banks from State Bank Of India, ICICI Bank, HDFC, Axis and Standard Chartered Bank. In the near future, all the credit and debit cards of American Express and Citi Bank will be accepted in this revolutionary way to pay digitally.

How To Register A Credit Or Debit Card?

Registering a new Card in this app is very easy and simple. You can use its inbuilt card scanner to scan and analyse your card details. Or you can also add all the card details manually by entering them. Samsung Pay app supports up to 10 credit or debit cards. And I think, it’s enough for anyone who has multiple bank cards.

How Much Time Does It Take To Activate My Card On The App?

Within few minutes, your card will be activated on the app, and you will be able to send money from your bank account using this app. It also allows you to activate your card over a WiFi connection.

Is Samsung Pay App Available On Google Play Store?

Unfortunately, the answer is NO! You can’t just download and install Samsung Pay App on your phone from Google Play Store. As I told you above, it needs some hardware and software requirements to use this app on a device. So, this app can be installed only through a software update or Maintenance Release (MR) update.
