Detel Mobiles and government-owned telecom operator BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) are now officially partners. They announced the partnership to offer voice and data benefits for the feature phone users. Customers who purchase a Detel feature phone, he/she will get a new BSNL connection with a 365 days validity on the first recharge.
The new offer comes with the Detel D1 feature phone. It will soon be available for purchase in all over India. The Detel D1 phone is priced at Rs 499. With this purchase, the customer gets the first recharge of Rs 153 tariff plan. With this Rs 153 tariff plan, BSNL offers a talk time of Rs 103 and charges 15 paise per minute for calls to other BSNL numbers. On the other hand, calls to other network operators charge 40 paise per minute. This plan has a massive validity of 365 days. Additionally, the subscribers will also get their own ringtone for the first 28 days.
As for specs, the Detel D1 features a 1.44-inch monochrome display. It only supports single SIM support which is understandable because it is a feature phone. Just like all other feature phones, the Detel D1 features a torchlight, a phonebook, an FM Radio and a decently loud speaker. The battery powering the device is a 650mAh battery, which would take less time to charge and last a day easily for a feature phone. This phone only supports 2G network and comes with a warranty of 1 year. The price of the device is Rs 311.61 but inclusive of all goods and service taxes, and it totals to Rs 349. When purchased at Rs 499, a customer gets the BSNL tariff plan benefits.
With the Detel D1, BSNL plans on taking on the likes of JioPhone. This is another feature phone, but it comes with Reliance Jio’s 4G plan. The JioPhone is a smart feature phone which allows 4G connectivity along with the ability to browse the web, while the Detel D1 is a simple feature phone which aims to provide service to those who cannot recharge their number on a monthly basis.
Now the point to note is that the JioPhone is available with a refundable deposit of Rs 1,500. Also, it also requires a monthly recharge of Rs 153 to get the refund after three years. In comparison, the Detel D1 does not require any such regular recharge plan. It allows the buyers to recharge their device as per their requirement and not on the basis of any plan.
